Our surgeons’ expertise covers the broad scope of general, thoracic (excluding cardiac), vascular and trauma surgery.
Post-Op Surgery Patient Survey Results
We set high expectations for ourselves in terms of patient satisfaction. A recent survey of 3,870 patients who underwent surgery with Surgical Specialists of Charlotte shows we’re delivering on our promise. Of course, we’re always seeking ways we can improve.
What Is General Surgery?
General Surgery is a broad field, which forms the basis of all surgical training. General Surgery areas of emphasis at Surgical Specialists of Charlotte include the following specialties:
- Colon and rectal surgery
- Endocrine (gland)
- Laparoscopic (minimal access)
- Skin disease surgeries
- Thoracic (chest—excluding cardiac)
Our surgeons are all board certified by the American Board of Surgery, highly qualified to perform surgery in all listed areas.
A fully trained surgeon is a physician who, following medical school, has undergone years of training in an accredited residency program to learn the specialized skills of a surgeon. An accurate indicator of a surgeon’s competence is certification by the American Board of Surgery. All board certified surgeons have completed an approved residency training program and have passed several rigorous examinations. At Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, all surgeons in our group undergo re-certification testing every 10 years in accordance with Board requirements.
Additionally, to ensure that our surgeons remain up-to-date in their specialized areas, they participate in a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, which includes attending meetings, seminars, lectures and journals.
