The Charlotte Business Journal’s Best Doctors special report recognizes the foremost physicians in the area and is published as a resource for readers seeking medical services. The listings are compiled by Best Doctors Inc. of Boston through a biennial peer-review survey of the medical profession. Best Doctors uses a combination of telephone interviews and information technology to determine which physicians to include. The organization contacts more than 45,000 physicians in its database and asks, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, whom would you refer them to?” A physician must be nominated by a current member to be considered for inclusion. All current members and nominees are evaluated every two years.

Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, P.A | Matthews Increasing Their Space, Staff and Technology

Posted on January 31, 2012

The team of surgeons at Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, P.A. has announced the grand opening of their new office space in Matthews. Through their commitment to world-class surgical procedures and excellent patient care, the practice was outgrowing its existing space yet wanted to stay close to their Matthews patients. A viable solution arose when a significant space became available one floor below their existing facility in the Presbyterian Medical Office Building. Surgical Specialists of Charlotte acquired this space, suite 250, and began a complete renovation. The new Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, P.A. Matthews offices open to the public on Monday, February 6, 2012.

The new facility nearly doubles the space available in our Matthews office. This, coupled with a renovated patient waiting area and updated examination rooms, allows for a more comfortable experience for their patients. The waiting area is intentionally designed to bring a calming affect to patients who often face anxiety regarding their surgeries. In addition, the Matthews center includes increased diagnostic imaging capabilities, allowing the Surgical Specialists of Charlotte surgeons to conduct a broader array of ultrasound studies. This allows physicians to have greater insight into a patient's condition before surgery, reducing the potential of unanticipated challenges.

This larger space also allows for an increase in physician availability for all of the surgeons based in the Matthews location. Drs. J. Andrew "Andy" Bohn, M.D., F.A.C.S., Winston Y. Godwin, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S., Paul J. Orland, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Eric L. Wallace, M.D., F.A.C.S. will offer additional appointment times in the expanded location. The primary surgical services offered at this location include abdominal wall repairs (Hernias), diseases of the breast, Cancer surgery, Thyroid, Gallbladder, Gastrointestinal tract, and Vascular surgery.

Louis H. Zbinden III, M.D., F.A.C.S., President of Surgical Specialists of Charlotte, P.A. states, "We are excited about the opportunity to better serve our Matthews patients with this increase in space, availability and diagnostic technology. Surgical Specialists of Charlotte is always striving to be at the forefront of surgical treatment and patient care. Our new Matthews office allows us to do this more effectively and more comfortably for our patients."

The relocation of the Matthews office along with upcoming renovations to their Randolph Road office and Huntersville location reveals the Surgical Specialists of Charlotte's commitment to providing their patients with the highest standards of patient care. Their six Charlotte-area locations ensure that world-class surgical care is always nearby.
